The Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar) are a dramatic volcanic archipelago of Iceland's south coast some 60km from Reykjavik. Famous for the 1973 Eldfell volcanic eruption, massive puffin colonies, and Elephant Rock, only the main island of Heimaey is inhabited.
