Evocation Images - to evoke an understanding of a place through photography
Welcome to my website, Evocation Images. I am a travel photographer with an interest in capturing images which provide a better understanding of the culture and geography of the places I visit. Travelling away from the familiar, such places often provide new experiences and a different way of looking looking at things.
The image above shows an example. This was the winning image in the 'Colours of Life' category in the 2020 Travel Photographer of the Year competition. It was taken at the Krishna Rajendra Market in Bengaluru (Bangalore), home of one of the largest flower markets in Asia. Here the customers flow between the banks of flower sellers like water in a river. My trips usually take place off the usual tourist trails with recent examples including visits to Nepal, China, Bhutan, Madagascar, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Myanmar, New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, and planned for 2024, the Silk Road. A selection of images from some of these destinations can be seen in the galleries on this website.
