Château de Beynac, Dordogne, France

The Château was built in the 12th century by the barons of Beynac to close the valley, the sheer cliff face being sufficient to discourage any assault from that side. On the plateau, double crenellated walls, double moats, and a double barbican were also constructed. Seeking a blue-hour shot of the château reflected in the Dordogne, I found the bend of the river blocked a clean view. Walking further down the bank, I discovered this alternative perspective, with the vibrant pink sky of the setting sun as an unexpected bonus.
