This gallery shows the gardens at Syon Park in Brentford, Middlesex UK which are illuminated each year with over 1000 lights in late November and early December and open to visitors once the sun goes down.
The illuminations provide a blaze of colour as the foliage of the trees and bushes light up against the night sky and reflect in the lakes of the estate.
Photographically, long exposures of up to 30 seconds are used to capture the scenery. Such exposures on a digital sensor enhance the colours including the orange glow of the night sky but some of the high powered lights provide a challenge for the dynamic range of the sensor and the highlights are often blown out. Several of the pictures have therefore been created from multiple exposures using HDR processing.
"The photographs are fantastic - really clear and bright and sum up the whole feeling of the event." Emma Hadleigh-Sparks, Estate Office, Syon Park
