Royal Arcade

The Royal Arcade is a magnificent heritage shopping precinct located at 335 Bourke Street Mall, connecting through to Little Collins Street and Elizabeth Street. Officially opened in May 1870, it is famously recognized as the oldest surviving undercover shopping arcade in Australia. Designed by architect Charles Webb in a grand Italianate Renaissance Revival style, the arcade is a tourist icon celebrated for its high glass canopy roof, checkered black-and-white flooring, and deep ties to Melbourne's retail history.
